In a moving ceremony, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has honored the late Namibian President Hage Geingob by awarding him a posthumous medal, the Sword of the Liberators—the highest distinction in Venezuela. The award, which commemorates exemplary leadership and revolutionary spirit, was received by Nangula Geingos, the eldest daughter of the late President Geingob.
During the presentation, President Maduro hailed the late Dr. Geingob as a monumental figure in African leadership and a staunch revolutionary, whose contributions extended far beyond the borders of Namibia. The ceremony took place in Caracas, where Nangula Geingos was attending the 1st World Congress Against Fascism, Neo-Fascism, and Related Expressions.
In her acceptance speech, Geingos expressed profound pride and deep gratitude on behalf of her family, the Swapo Party, and the nation of Namibia. She emphasized the importance of the honor, which not only celebrated her father's legacy but also strengthened the ties between Venezuela and Namibia.
