Nkonke Village, Kavango West – A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when a 28-year-old woman, Haita Johanna Nzawo, lost her life after the hut she was sleeping in was struck by lightning. The incident happened around 04h00 at Nkonke village in the Kavango West region.
Police Deputy Commissioner Johannes Kudumo confirmed the incident, stating that Nzawo was in the hut with three other individuals when the lightning strike caused the structure to catch fire. While the three survivors managed to escape, one sustained burn injuries on her back.
Nzawo was burned beyond recognition in the blaze. Authorities have since informed the next of kin.
