10 Year Old Boy Allegedly Kills 2 Year-Old girl

Police Report

Authorities in the Omusati region are investigating a tragic case in which a 2-year-old girl was allegedly killed by a 10-year-old boy at Akaonde village in Onesi Constituency on Saturday night.

The incident reportedly occurred while four children, all under the age of 10, were left unsupervised as their parents attended local shebeens. Upon their return around 20h00, the parents found two of the children missing from the house. When questioned, one of the children revealed that the 10-year-old suspect had stuffed sand into the 2-year-old girl’s mouth, causing her to suffocate.

The suspect, who has a disability, is said to have hidden the victim’s body in a nearby bush before fleeing into a mahangu field.

Omusati Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, confirmed that the suspect will not be arrested due to his age. Instead, the boy will be placed in the care of a social worker while the police conclude their investigation. The findings will be forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s office for a decision.
