“We Are Not Dom!” – Job Amupanda to Gazza

Job To Gazza

In a fiery exchange on social media, Professor Job Amupanda, leader of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement, took aim at Namibian musician Lazarus Shiimi, popularly known as Gazza, over his upcoming concert titled “According to Jazz.”

In an interview with The Namibian, Gazza explained that the concert seeks to foster unity among Namibians during a period of growing societal divisions.

“We have to be politically mature because you are not me and I’m not you. Everyone should support what they want,” Gazza stated, emphasizing his belief in diversity and mutual respect.

However, the sentiment did not sit well with Amupanda, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disapproval. In a scathing post, he wrote:
“You divided them FOR MONEY and now you want to pretend to bring them together again FOR MONEY. We are not Dom!”

Amupanda’s remarks appeared to reference allegations of Gazza’s political affiliations for Swapo. In 2014, Gazza reportedly received N$2.5 million along with King Tee Dee.

The exchange has sparked debate among Namibians, with some defending Gazza’s efforts to use music as a bridge in a divided society, while others question the sincerity of his motives.

One Comments saying: “Who say NO to money?? let’s be realistic sometimes if it’s time to make money let the man make his money at the end of the day he’s doing everything to feed his people back home as everyone is doing it for money to live

Another one say: “We are all just hustling. Even the people with political parties. 😂 Let the man hustle. 😂 😂 We all have families to feed.”
