A young girl is safe after narrowly escaping an attempted abduction near Moses Garoeb Primary School in Windhoek on Tuesday, prompting a police investigation.
Namibian Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, reported that the child was followed by a white seven-seater vehicle from the Havana area along Monte Cristo Road. Upon reaching a stop near Hakahana, two masked men in black balaclavas allegedly approached her, claiming her mother had sent them.
The girl resisted and managed to flee to her school, where she reported the incident. No suspects have been arrested so far.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation and urge anyone with tips to contact the Wanaheda Police Station. Shikwambi also advised parents and guardians to remain vigilant and avoid letting children walk to school alone.
