Windhoek, Namibia – A local medical doctor, who has been practicing at Katutura Hospital and assisting the gender-based violence unit in Windhoek with rape cases, has been arrested on allegations of raping his 8-year-old son. The assaults are reported to have begun in 2018.
The Namibian Police confirmed the arrest on Tuesday and stated that the doctor’s mother has also been detained as an accomplice. Police spokesperson Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi provided details on the arrests.
“I just learnt that he appeared in court today together with his mother and both are remanded in custody,” said Commissioner Shikwambi.
The identities of the accused are being withheld to protect the privacy of the victim. Further investigations are ongoing.
