NAMDIA suspend CEO and COO

The Namib Desert Diamonds (NAMDIA) company is set to release an official update concerning the diamond robbery that took place on January 18 at its headquarters in Windhoek.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alisa Amupolo, and Chief Operations Officer, Uahoroka Kauta, have been placed on suspension as investigations continue. While NAMDIA has yet to confirm these reports, insiders indicate that the decision is linked to ongoing inquiries into the case.

When contacted, company spokesperson Beverley Coussement declined to verify or deny the suspensions but assured that an official statement would be issued soon.

The robbery, which involved the theft of diamonds, also led to the deaths of two individuals, including Francis Eiseb, the head of NAMDIA’s security department. Authorities are continuing their probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
